Description

Stella-di-Mare means “Star of the Sea”.  The house received it’s name after a huge starfish was found on the pink sand beach which is situated in front of the house.
 
The House
The house is built on one level,  and is situated on a small promontory of land in the midst of a three acre sea-side property.  
 
The situation of the house allows for beautiful views of the sea and white and pink sand beach that extends in all directions.
 
The house contains three spacious bedrooms - each with ensuite baths which contains baths with showers.   The bedrooms are equipped with Serta king size beds.   Each have tray cypress ceilings and are equipped with ceiling fans and air conditioners.
 
There are large double sliding glass doors opening to sea terraces in two bedrooms and opening to a garden terrace in the third bedroom.
 
The house comes well equipped with sheets,  towels and all necessary linens.   There is a great room with soaring cypress tray ceilings with ceiling fans and air conditioners.  In this room there are large double sliding doors in the front and back allowing for great views and air circulation.   These glass doors allow for views front and back of both tropical gardens and the sea as well as the sunrise and the sunset.   There are over hanging terraces that allow for shade and shelter from the noon day sun.   There is a separate wet bar for storing cool drinks and it contains it’s own refrigerator.    There is also a separate airy room or den which offers a private space for writing or business and is equipped with internet.   There is a separate outdoor living room with comfortable furniture under it’s own terrace.  The house contains also an outdoor studio which can be used as an artist workplace.  
 
There is a cool and well ventilated spacious kitchen with modern appliances.   
 
The decor of the house is in soft tones of sand and white.   With original works of art created by the owner-artists.   
 
Maid service is included in your rent for 2 days each week.  Extra maid service available at per diem. 
 
The Garden
The house sits in a garden with many species of tropical plants.  The back garden is dominated by a large orchid tree which attracts many species of hummingbirds.   The garden is planned to attracted as many species of birds as possible.  The front terrace of the house contains a path that meanders to the beach through a lovely seaside palm garden.   The path from the house ends at the seaside and the beach house which contains lounge chairs and sea kayaks.
 
The Beach
The beach which runs in front of the house is approximately  three miles long and is formed in a crescent shape with a coral reef protecting the mouth protecting the mouth of the curved beach.  The water in the bay is crystal clear and because of the protective reef the waters are comfortably calm which allows the bay to be perfect for all water sports.   There is no undertow so children can play safely in it’s waters.   The calm waters in the bay are perfect for snorkelling,  kayaking,  fishing (excellent bone as well as other conventional) and swimming.
 
Shopping -  Airport - Conveniences and Entertainment
There are no large hotels on this island but there are small restaurants that offer a good variety of native cuisine.  As well,  there are American favourites such as hot dogs,  hamburgers,  etc.   Please be prepared to order native specialties such as conch fritters,  grouper fingers,  macaroni and cheese,  fried chicken,  coleslaws and many other island delicacies.  
 
The trip of a half an hour down the Queens Highway by car will take you to Governors Harbour - a charming colonial village where you will find many choices of small restaurants to suit all tastes.  
 
The house is situated fifteen minutes from good shopping at the Shopping Center of Rock Sound.   The Rock Sound Airport is 10 minutes away.    The grocery store at Rock Sound contains a good selection of food and the little fishing village of Tarpum Bay (5 minutes away) supplies fresh fish daily (weather permitting).    There is an organic farm garden where it is possible to buy all manner of salad greens,  vegetables, breads,  fruit such as mangos and papayas and condiments all made or produced on the island - and don’t forget fresh coconut!
 
If you have come to Eleuthera to get away from it all you have reached a little paradise.   The people are friendly and nature abounds in an endless supply of lovely beaches for you to explore.   The sound of the surf and tree frogs will lull you to sleep at night and the island breezes blow softly through the leaves of the casuarina trees and the sun baths you in it’s warm rays as swim,  kayak, walk and explore this lovely island.  The word “Eleuthera” means “Freedom” in Greek.

Best vacation ever


We recently stayed here the week of August 13th. This house is wonderful, and Ms. Latoya the caretaker is the best. She is full of information about the island, and very good at recommending restaurants to eat at. We will definitely be back winding bay was awesome and very private. Me only seen 4 people on one day for a couple hours and that was it.
