Description

The Reel Inn, in Au Train Michigan is just a short 10 minute drive from Munising. Our properties consist of 2 modern log cabins, one is a lodge and the other a cabin, both rented individually. The cabin is right on the bank of the famous Au Train River, known for being one of the best destinations for  canoeing and kayaking in upper Michigan. It  has 3 queen size beds, 1 in a down stairs bedroom, 2 in a loft, also has a new full size log futon style couch/bed and a toddler bed.  It has a full kitchen (basic spices provided) with granite counter tops as well as washer and dryer, and your rental includes all linen and towels. The cabin is equipped with digital cable TV, wireless high speed internet (6 MB/s) and dvd players. Also the TV is equipped with game system inputs. On site we have complimentary canoe & paddle boat and a few adult/children bicycles including a tandem. We also have kayak rentals on site, 2-10 ft,3-12 ft & 1-14ft tandem. They are $75 per unit for the length of your stay (payable on site if you wish)if you pre-pay them in advance with your reservation they are only $50 per unit for the entire duration of your stay. reservations are not necessary but are recommended as we do rent to the public also. 
 
This destination puts our guests only 1/3 of a mile from one of the top 10 most pristine sugar sand beaches in the U.S. You will be only a 15 minute drive to countless sightseeing adventures which include dozens of waterfalls and boat tours of the famous pictured rocks national park. If you enjoy hiking,biking or atv/snowmobiling, trails are practically out your back door. Spectacular fishing experiences in the Au Train river, Lake and Lake Superior again only minutes away from our location. 
 
Pets would be considered at a small rate per pet, restrictions apply.  
 
Our other properties include the reel inn lodge which sleeps 14 and the largest single structure vacation rental property in the entire upper peninsula, the pinewood lodge estate, located 2 miles west from the reel inn. The Pinewood is a 8500 square-foot log private estate on 700 feet of Lake superior sand beach. The combined three of our properties will host upwards of  60 people.)

Perfect Escape!


We live in Chicago and the UP is one of our favorite destinations to get away from it all. There were four of us in our party and the home was more than adequate for us. The beds were super comfy and the cabin had all the comforts of home. The location right on the river was beautiful and very picturesque. We used the outdoor fire pit on the chilly nights. It was convenient to get to Marquette and Munising where we took the boat trip of the Pictured Rocks. Simply breathtaking! We will definitely be back.

Quaint little cabin, perfect family getaway!


We loved our recent stay at this perfect hideaway! Our family of six had only a couple of days together for a fall break trip and found ourselves perfectly happy on the Au Train River. Although the temperature was chilly, we were able to enjoy the complimentary canoe (even canoed in the light snowfall - gorgeous!), paddle boat and even road the bicycles (our kids loved the tandem bike). The cabin was VERY clean, well accessorized and comfortable like home. Mattresses were the perfect comfort level and we really appreciated all of the fans, since we didn’t have enough room to pack ours from home! My only suggestion is that the cookware could be replaced, it has seen a full life. I would also recommend that if you replace the nonstick cookware, a wise investment would be bamboo or nylon tools for using in them, to prolong their lifespan. Having the griddle was a life saver for breakfast meals and having a crock pot available was very sensible! The decor suits the cabin and the beautiful wooded setting perfectly, many details have gone into making your stay a relaxing experience. If we could have stayed longer with our schedules, we certainly would have...it is a lovely location! We were also able to bring our dog and he enjoyed his stay as well. He is not very graceful, so we limited his access to the stairs - LOL! Venturing out locally, we were able to walk the beach at Lake Superior, follow trails to some of the local falls, visit the Pictured Rock overlooks, and dine at one of the local Munising restaurants. Thank you for the excellent hospitality, we will be back!

Great location on river and close to trails for ATV and snowmobiles.


Loved location on river and proximity to ATV and snow mobile trails. Cottage was nice, comfortable and had adequate amenities. Highly recommend.

This was a beautiful cabin! It was clean, cozy, and on a beautiful river.


This cabin was perfect for our girls trip. It was clean, well kept, and on the beautiful AuTrain river. We kayaked, canoed, and enjoyed natures scenery. Was a quick drive away from the Pictured Rocks boat tours and lots of gorgeous hiking trails/water falls. Matt the owner was accommodating, friendly, and answered the phone right away when I called. All of the beds were comfortable as well. Would recommend this to anyone! Thanks for the wonderful trip Matt!
