Pamela Baldwin is retired from a career in international development as a USAID Foreign Service officer, having served in Asia, eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union She and her late husband purchased historic WeatherLea Farm in 1993. In addition to the Shepherd's Cottage, the farm also features a 1794 farmhouse and a mid-19th century barn. Its rolling fields are home to flock of Romney sheep and two guard llamas, two horses, a small vineyard of Cabernet Franc wine grapes. The historic barn serves as a wedding venue and event space. The Shepherd's Cottage is highly suitable for families or reunions with a few friends., featuring 3 bedrooms, a full kitchen and dining space, a deck with grill and outdoor picnic table. . Our location is unbeatable for a wide variety of sights and activities -- historic, recreational, rural and epicurean -- while also offering easy access to Washington DC and Baltimore, MD. We have also been a favorite place for writers to work in peace and quiet while taking advantage of our internet connections. We recently served as the location for an independent film, and for a renowned group of artists who painted our outstanding landscapes during the autumn season. The cottage also serves as an ideal space for brides and bridesmaids to receive services from hair and makeup artists before their weddings here at WeatherLea between May and October.
Having lived abroad for a number of years, Pamela especially enjoys hosting international guests! Our location is ideal for an amazing array of historic sites, recreational opportunities, and great food and wine.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage for our mother daughters weekend away. It is easy to get to and a pleasure to stroll around the grounds. The deer came by to visit and we made friends with the animals on the property. We enjoyed the coffee and goodies in the fridge and curled up and watched movies during the evenings. Thank you for the cozy stay!
My husband and I loved our weekend in the Shepherd\'s cottage. The refrigerator was stocked for our stay. We enjoyed the beauty and peacefulness of the farm with the sheep, llamas and horses grazing in the pasture. We will be back again!
We needed to get away from the city for a weekend and chose this little cottage because of how cute it is and because of the other reviews we read about the animals on the property. We have a toddler who we knew would love to see the animals and walk around the property. We were not disappointed. Pamela and her family are delightful and the dog and cats are wonderful and friendly. We loved being greeted by them. The cottage was comfortable and well-stocked. We loved that some breakfast items were provided in the fridge. Such a nice and welcoming touch. We were very happy at the Shepherd’s Cottage and will definitely be back.
We were looking to get out of the city with our kids, ages 3 1/2 and 16 months, for a long weekend. Weatherlea Farm turned out to be a perfect spot, with a small, cozy cottage, horses, sheep, llamas, cats and a dog to visit. We were welcome to walk all over the property, which we did often. The fridge was stocked with all possible breakfast grocery items. The farm is 6 minutes away from Brunswick, Md, and cute and funky town with direct access to the C&O Canal towpath, where we ran and biked. And also close to Harper’s Ferry historic sites. Pamela and her family were kind and friendly but we still had plenty of privacy to do our thing. Our preschooler is raving to his teachers about “the llama sheep farm”!
