Description

Perfect for families, groups, and corporate rentals with accommodations for up to 9 people. Downstairs has 2 queen beds, one king, one futon, one full bath, large living area, and W/D. Upstairs has one queen bed, one full bath, full eat-in kitchen, large living room, and deck access to front and back of house. The lake has a 10hp motor restriction (so no speed boats) and features a fire pit and canoe for paddling or fishing, although fish can be caught from the shore (fishing license required). Fishing rods and tackle as well as some snow shoes and jackets and boots available for use during your stay. One flat screen tv in each living area, dvd player, and wifi.  There is a variety of reading material, games, and outdoor activities for guests of all interests. If there's something in particular you're looking for and don't see it listed here, please ask.  If it's available, we'll let you know.  We want you to get the most out of your stay in our beautiful state, and we want you to be comfortable in our home.

Our family retired from the military at Ft. Bragg, NC in 2006 and moved to Alaska to finish raising our children. Randy started his second career working for the state on the Alaska Marine Highway (ferry system), and Colleen started a very rewarding job working for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MatSu) as a firefighter. That job excelled over the next six years to becoming an engineer with West Lakes Fire Department and an EMT. Our children are grown and live nearby with grandchildren arriving yearly:)

Why Colleen chose Wasilla
We recently secured jobs out of state that may become permanent. However, we're not ready to sell our house yet. We've put years into upgrading it, and we just love our home. We receive a lot compliments, and people wonder why we would ever want to leave. We're trying something new in our new found empty nest status, and are hoping to share some of the beauty and comfort of our home with others to enjoy.
What makes this House unique
We believe we have the best location on the lake for views and access. The lake is a peaceful wildlife breeding area with no loud speedboats or jet skis, although it becomes a roadway for snowmachiners in the winter. The lake freezes to about 2 feet thick making it a perfect place to ice fish, cross-country ski, or snow shoe. There is also a snow machine, ATV, and camper rental dealer in Wasilla for the very adventurous vacationers.

100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date. 
50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date. 
Smoking allowed outside only.
Pets must be approved in writing prior to guest stay.
No shoes to be worn in the house. Please remove them in the arctic entry before entering the house.
Front door keypad lock will be programmed to the last 4 digits of the phone number used to make the reservation.

Spacious comfortable home with nice views


This vacation rental had everything we needed, and for once everything worked as advertised. TV and internet worked great. Kitchen was well supplied with all of the little things you need to cook - spices, syrups, condiments, coffee, etc. Colleen was quick to respond, and she was very helpful answering questions about the area. Everything in the house was clean and nicely updated. It was a comfortable house to stay in, and the large deck had a wonderful view of the lake. The canoe was an added bonus, and it was very fun to paddle around the lake. We would stay here again.

Great home and location


Loved the home and location. Shared the home with 3 friends and hiked 11 trails in 7 days. It was nice to come back to a comfortable home every evening. Would definitely recommend it and will use again in the future
