Description

Located in the Manayunk neighborhood of historic Philadelphia, the Guest House was originally built as a Parsonage or Rectory for the United Methodist Church in 1877. It served the church well with housing the Pastors of the church and their families along with serving the community by conducting many wedding ceremonies and baptisms on the property for a couple dozen years.  However, the town of Manayunk grew as an industrial textile town which drew many Catholic migrant workers from Europe to the area.  The Methodist church found that the expense of running the Parsonage was not necessary and found it best to put the property up for sale in the beginning of the 1900’s.

In 2007, we had the idea to make the home into a bed and breakfast where we could entertain folks traveling to Philadelphia. We worked on the home over the next decade to bring it back to the original grandeur that it once was when it was built in the Victorian Age. We reluctantly agreed to accept our first paying guest in the summer of 2015, when our good neighbor needed to house her friend from Thailand. She then put us on TripAdvisor by posting our very first review and the rest, as they say is history. That began our latest career, as fully committed Innkeepers.

Travelers have now been coming to the guest house from as far as New Zealand, Europe and of course Asia. We are truly humbled by how well we have been received by our guests and absolutely ecstatic by the wonderful reviews we have received since our opening.

As we continue to grow and move toward the future, we look forward to welcoming future guests to even greater experiences in Manayunk Chambers Guest House as we will offer Private Afternoon Tea Parties, Murder Mystery Events and Cooking classes and demonstrations. Please subscribe to our newsletter to stay in touch and to be the first to know of the latest happenings and the exciting overnight themed packages and seasonal specials we will be offering to our very loyal and beloved guests.

Plan on return visit!

Mark is a wonderful host, we really enjoyed our stay at Manayunk Chambers Guest House! Breakfast was delicious! Highly recommend, especially if youd like to explore Main Street in Manayunk which is full of restaurants, breweries and unique shops.

Perfect

We visit our daughter in manayunk quite frequently and we have stayed here before. Its by far the best place we ever found in manayunk. One of the best places ever. Mark it awesome, the location is perfect, the rooms are comfortable, the breakfast is delicious. There is nothing negative to say about this wonderful place.

Charming Victorian with wonderful host

We had a great stay at the Manayunk Chambers Guest House. The host, Mark, greeted us and showed us the parlor with all the amenities available: coffee, cold drinks, wine, snacks and array of books and quiet piano music to enjoy any time of day or night. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated in Victorian fashion. My room (Garden Suite) had a very nice bathroom as well. Breakfast was fantastic and included fresh pastries and bread, toasted granola, fresh fruit and juice with a little different twist every day. As a vegan, Mark accommodated me with plant based butter, soy yogurt and vegan smoothies in the mini-fridge! I would recommend this place highly and will definitely be staying there again when I visit my family in Manayunk.

Superb stay!

From the warm welcome to our comfortable quarters to the delicious breakfasts, this place exceeded expectations in every way. Wed forgotten how nice it could be to be hosted by a hotelier who went out of their way to make you feel at home, as Mark did. Our room was spacious & cozy all at once and the private bath spoiled us with its spa-like accessories! The bed was so comfortable & the parlor so inviting, with its books, games, snacks, beverages and crackling fireplace. All topped off with gourmet breakfasts prepared with such obvious care and an artful eye. The location is convenient to Main St Manayunk, Bala Cynwyd and even downtown Philly. Our stay there was a treat and we highly recommend!

Loved Manayunk Chambers Guest House

Amazing weekend. Comfortable room, very clean, soft and luxurious bedding. Very convenient location, walking distance to Main st., and the walkway along the canal. The Guest House is furnished beautifully, has a very warm and cozy feeling. The breakfast served by Mark is exceptional. Fresh baked goods, fresh fruits, among other goodies arranged in a beautiful presentation.
