Description
The zone between creature comforts and the creatures themselves is our sturdy Ozark cabins. They'll keep you cool in summer, warm in winter, and dry anytime. We're open all year. Pinder's has 11 clean, comfortable cabins fully equipped with cookware, utensils, pots, pans, toaster, microwave, and electric coffeemaker. We provide all linens and towels except pool towels. Each cabin has color TV, air conditioning, propane heat, and ceiling fans. Bar-B-Q grills and picnic tables are just outside each cabin. We have one, two, and three bedroom cabins, all of which have lake views from the bedroom windows. Units are mostly furnished in Art Deco era furniture, have knotty pine paneling, and modern appliances. We are re-decorating as we find unique items that catch our eye. Ice, grocery snacks, ice cream, soda, bait and fishing licenses are available at the office store.
Our guests escaping the wrath of the City prefer not to have to walk more than a few feet to take in the relaxing sounds and feel of nature. That's why we have left as many trees, grass, and flowers in place as possible. Too much work to go for a hike along the shoreline? No problem! Just hang out around our 20 x 40 in-ground pool. Or plop down in one of the lawn chairs under a tall hardwood and listen to the birds. It won't be long before you feel your energy return. Once that old feeling of invigoration comes back, you can choose from the many activities we list below.
Your children can run off the fun energy that only the scent of the woods induces in the youngsters. Children thrill at the chance to run unimpeded around our grounds.
If you are traveling in a group, say a family reunion, there's several large flat spots for group picnics. Our pavilion and game room also make an excellent spot for group gatherings. The new game room and pavilion are both under one roof. There are sturdy picnic tables, BBQ grills, and a bon fire pit. At night our group guests gather around a fire, tell jokes and carry on until way too late. There are periods of silence as they stare upward at the unbelievably star-loaded clear skies. Most have never seen so many stars!
At night you'll hear Nature. The call of the wild echoes off the water as coyote packs gather for the night's hunt. Twilight hunters like the screech owl and night hawk call out as the last rays of light disappear. Deep into the night you'll hear a variety of owls, whippoorwills, and herons on the lake shore. As dawn breaks until about 8am you'll see deer, wild turkey, rabbits, and other small animals as they forage for food around the resort. They may also appear again at dusk.
Area Activities
As the stress drains from you and is replaced by the desire to once again move about, you'll have numerous outdoor activities to choose from. If you want live entertainment, you're also in luck. America's live music capital, Branson Missouri, is just one hour away. Many of our guests drive to Branson in the morning, shop, dine, take in a show or two, and return in the evening. They enjoy the excitement without having to stay in it.
If you are an amateur naturalist, hiker, fisherman, hunter, photographer, artist, or anyone enjoying a naturalistic pursuit, there is plenty to choose from within a 30 minute drive of Pinder's. Our part of the Ozark Plateau has a biologically diverse list of ecological land types to explore. Cedar glades, rock barrens, oak-hickory-pine forests, prairie glades, barrens, huge springs, and karst geology formations. There are several thousand acres of public lands offering all of these.
