We are in the middle of some of the best fishing areas on Norfork Lake. Largemouth, smallmouth, crappie, blue gill, stripers, hybrids, walleye, and three species of catfish are Norfork Lake's sportfish species. Fishing is open year round, and there are no closed seasons on any fish species. We can help make your fishing trip successful by showing you where we like to fish. We keep in contact with several other anglers and do our best to know where the fish are biting. You can bank fish, rent a boat from us or a nearby marina or go fishing with a professional guide. Take advantage of our year round fishing packages and let us handle the arrangements for your guided trip. We can select a lake guide based on your fishing preferences. We can also arrange guide trips for trout fishing on the nearby rivers.
Brook, brown, rainbow, and cutthroat are the four species of trout that can be caught while river fishing. We are 25 minutes from both the White and the North Fork river. Both rivers have set several World Line Class record trout catches. You can bank fish, rent a boat, or take a guided trout fishing trip.
From mid May through mid October Norfork Lake is warm enough to enjoy water skiing, scuba diving, swimming, wake boarding, and boating. Norfork rarely has surface waves exceeding a foot high. However even on those rare windy days when the surface gets a little rough out on the main channel, you can still find protected coves smooth enough for skiing.
Our pontoon boats are late model and well maintained. They are popular with families and groups who want gentle cruising on the lake. The 18 foot Skeeter ski and bass boat will carry up to 5 people and can be used for fishing or water skiing. The 115hp four stroke motor gives you the speed you want on the lake without the noise of a 2 stroke engine. There are several marinas just minutes from Hummingbird Hideaway Resort. They carry a good selection of boats including personal watercraft.
Because of its water clarity Norfork is a popular scuba destination. Scuba lessons are available from certified instructors and you can become certified within a week. Scuba spearfishing is a popular activity as well. If you are a scuba diver seeking a P.A.D.A. certified fill station and gear rentals there are two dive shops near Hummingbird Hideaway. These same shops can guide you to several underwater attractions. Experienced divers enjoy the deep water dives down hidden bluffs. We will be happy to help you plan an independent dive trip or work with you to set up a scuba package that meets your needs.
Within a 5 to 30 minute drive from Hummingbird Hideaway you can do the following: canoe the upper North Fork river, go horseback riding, scuba dive, tour the Norfork National Trout Hatchery, play 18 holes of golf, see a movie, go bowling, go antique and craft shopping at many local stores, play miniature golf, go to church, go hiking, biking, bird watching, and attend stand-up comedy acts.
Within an hour's drive you can tour Blanchard Springs Caverns, visit the Ozark Folk Center, attend live music shows with comedy routines, explore and hike in the Ozark National Forest, and visit more craft and antique shops. The old town of Hardy, Spring River and Mammoth Springs, all one hour away have been very popular with our guests as day trips.
Within a two hour drive you can attend music shows and go mall shopping in Branson, Missouri, or go to Silver Dollar City. You can also visit Wonders of Wildlife and Bass Pro Shop, plus do more mall shopping in Springfield, Missouri. No matter how short or how long your drive, it is always scenic and interesting along the way. Eureka Springs is another popular site just a 2 hour drive from Hummingbird Hideaway Resort.
