Our relaxing vacation home is nestled in nature with tremendous views of some of Colorado's most spectacular 14'ers: Mt Antero, Mt Princeton, Mt Yale and the famous White Chalk Cliffs above the wonderful Mt Princeton Hot Springs. Four different eco-systems are within a 12 mile region to explore. The beautiful Arkansas river valley is just 4 miles east with temperate forests, alpine meadows and Mtn tundra to west. Our home is ringed with an abundance of trees. Deer often "camp out" in our yard. You will see plenty of birds and wildlife from both our decks.
The home interior has both southwestern and mountain decor. With an open living room, sun room, & dining-kitchen area, you can enjoy one level "rancher" living. All three bedrooms have cozy privacy & the neighborhood is quiet, secluded and only a short distance to Buena Vista for shopping and restaurants.
Please do Remember - No Smoking inside the home.
It's a privilege to be so close to one of Colorado's best natural Mountain Hot Springs. Soak, swim, float, and relax in Olympic-size pools, or sit by the creek under moon or starlight in warm sandy rock pools. It's an experience not to be missed! You might consider dining at Mt Princeton Hot Springs also. They are very friendly, courteous and continually upgrading; as becomes a top notch spa. Debbie says their chocolate mousse is the best she's ever had! Their Lobby also has free wireless internet, which is also available at the bookstore 317 Main Street in Buena Vista.
The gorgeous areas surrounding Buena Vista are known for having more 14,000 foot mountains than anywhere else in the world! You can climb many trails and summit most of them. It's a "Banana-Belt" Valley - warmer than most in winter, and a summer focus for outdoor activity in the Heart of the Rockies. World class Mtn Biking, Kayaking, rafting, skiing and other activities abound! Our Chaffee county's motto is prophetic: "Now THIS is Colorado!"
We are very near to San Isabel National Forest and Colorado Trail for hiking and cross-country skiing. Rafting Arkansas River is a summertime favorite and Mountain Biking anytime is a special treat. Winter Skiing is close by (approximately 40-50 Minutes) to two ski areas: Monarch and Breckenridge. Oh yes - and Ahhh! Mount Princeton Hot Springs is open year round and just a short walk or drive away!
Be sure to explore both Chalk Creek Canyon and Cottonwood Pass Canyon. Watch the environment turn from High Dry Chaparral to forest and alpine in a short distance with gradual climbs. Chalk Creek has famous white cliffs and several fishing areas up to the historic town of St. Elmo past Alpine Lake about 12 miles away.
There is a wildlife refuge nearby where often one can spot Big Horn Sheep or Mountain Goats. Cottonwood Pass also has a Hot Springs and you can drive to the summit ( 12,150 feet ) in season to watch glorious sunsets. Rainbow Lake and Cottonwood Lake are both wonderful. Horse Riding is also available at 3 nearby stables.
