Description
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in our wonderful Port Grimaud Vacation home. Please use this site to learn more about one of the most beautiful vacation spots on earth.
The vacation home is built on three levels. On the first level is the living room, which looks out over the large waterfront patio, a dinette, and kitchen. The kitchen is small but well equipped, including dishwasher and washing machine. There is service for eight, and eight can sit either inside or at the table on the patio, although more than six inside gets tight.
On the second level is a master bedroom with a queen size bed, a second bedroom with one twin bed, and a bathroom between. The third level is similar, except that it has twin beds for kids in one of the rooms.
LINENS: It is the custom in France for renters to bring their own linen and towels. Accordingly, there is a place to rent those items in the commercial center, and our concierge Mr. Rey can direct you to it and help you if necessary. If you arrive at an inconvenient time, there are linens in the house, in the wicker basket just after the entrance. Since most non-food related business is closed on Sunday, and Mr. Rey doesn\'t work on Sunday, plan your trip to arrive mid-day on a day other than Sunday.
KEYS: Pick up the keys from the concierge, Mr. Rey, the \"guardian\" of our street, who lives at #6 Rue des trois Rives, the first house (but second door) on the right side of Rue des Trois Rives as you enter the street. One key fits the front door bottom lock, one the front door top bolt, and we try to keep the canal side key in the door at all times. Mr. Rey does not work on Sunday, so if you are going to arrive on Sunday you have to make special arrangements with us. Ask for a second set of keys if you need it. If you are arriving late or on a Sunday, please call Mr. Rey and make special arrangements with him. Or, in case of any problem, please call the owner, Michel Phamm in Paris.
M. Rey, Dominique; 6, Rue des 3 Rives, 83310 Port Grimaud, France 04 94.56.22.56 M. Michel Pham (his wife\'s name is Gudny, and both speak English, Gudny also speaks Norwegian): (33) 01 3052 1447
TELEPHONE, PARKING, ETC.: A telephone, and usually a portable telephone is normally connected at the house. Please don\'t make any calls that will appear on our bills unless you obtain the cost and send us a check for it. To dial the United States, by credit card call, we recommend USA direct by AT&T, which you can reach by dialing 0800-990011 for an international line. An AT&T operator will come on the line, or you can dial direct and enter a credit card number.
The hot water heater is located over the refrigerator. In summer the lever goes on the sun icon, so that the heating system is off. In winter the lever goes to the snowflake icon, to turn on the heat. For help with any of these items you can talk with Mr. Rey,. He speaks French and German, but not much English. If you want maid service, Mr Rey can help you. If something breaks and really needs immediate attention, you can call our fixit man Lazar Nakara on his portable telephone: 06 20 61 58 57.
On the table near the front door should be a parking sticker. Keep it in your car and the guard will automatically open the gate for you when you drive in (if he\'s awake). The number on the sticker is our parking space number. You can drive up to the door of the house to load or unload, but you are supposed to park the car in our space, which is a 2-3 minute walk away. To enter the parking lot from our house, turn in either direction onto Rue des Trois Rives and turn into the first driveway. If you turn left onto Rue des 3 Rives, and right into the parking access road, the second right turn takes you into the area with our space. Our space is #395. PLEASE LEAVE THE PARKING STICKER ON THE FRONT TABLE WHEN YOU LEAVE. Except during the period June 15-Sept 15 there are lots of empty spaces, and if you need a second Mr. Rey can tell which is free.
You may also find \"couche d\'eaux\" passes. These permit you to ride on the Resident\'s water taxi inside Port Grimaud free of charge. There are usually four tickets. The Resident boat is not the same as the tourist boat..
There are a few items in the house that you will find:
- An orange juicer in the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped, and there is nothing you should need. Note that the stove has both electric and gas burners. The gas burners must be lit with the gun lighter or a match. There is also a microwave oven. Please be careful not to put anything metal into this oven.
- A vacuum cleaner either in the upstairs closet or the \"cave\" next to the fireplace. We don\'t use the fireplace as it smokes up the house.
- The television has a remote control, and is connected to cable. There are stations in French, German, and English, including CNN.
- There is a radio with AM, FM, tape player and disk player.
- There are three electric fans, which keep the house cool, and keep mosquitoes away at night.
- There is an iron and ironing board in the second floor closet.
