For the adventurous, there are 15 acres of woods and fields to explore. Hike to the top of the hill for the expansive view of the surrounding valley and hills. Cherry Tree Cottage is conveniently located less that 10 miles from Sparta, North Carolina, on of the friendliest small towns along the Blue Ridge. And less than 10 miles from the New River with opportunities to canoe, tube lazily downstream or fish for muskie and small-mouth bass. The Blue Ridge Parkway forms the southeastern border of the county. This section of the Parkway includes Doughton Park, the scenic drive's premier developed area that includes numerous hiking trails, picnic areas, historic sites, a restaurant and other ammenities.
