Sleeps: 10As you can tell from the beautiful piece my sister wrote, we think MOON DUNE is a very special place indeed. Located in the Tahoe Vista section on the California side of Lake Tahoe\'s north shore, it is both close to everything, and secluded enough to escape the world!
Our grandparents had been taking our mom, Katie, her brother, Renwick, and sister, Clarisse, on camping adventures to Tahoe for years. In those days, it would take nine hours or more on old, windy roads to Tahoe from San Francisco (now it\'s just four!). Our grandmother, Lily, and her second husband, a country lawyer named Will Mooney eventually bought a nice piece of lakefront land in the 1930s. Neither of them had built a house before. For the next ten years, piece by piece, summer by summer, the whole family chipped in and MOON DUNE grew from a dream into a reality!
We offer it for you to rent during the late spring through early fall months only, because the home has not been winterized, yet. We have just acquired MOON DUNE from our aunt, and are in the process of a gradual restoration. What makes it so wonderful, we think, is the rustic nature of this home in the \"Old Tahoe\" style. Having said that, we can assure you that MOON DUNE contains modern and up-to-date amenities. The kitchen has a brand new refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher. Everything from blender to microwave oven, coffee maker, and all necessary pots and pans are there. We have all new glasses, silver, and fiesta ware service for twelve. The long dining room table, with Spanish tile floor, has a large picture window facing the lake. There is a separate utility porch adjoining the kitchen with a washer and dryer.
