You will receive the car full of gas and it is expected to be returned full. A 25 cent per mile usage fee will be charged at the end your stay. My daughter and I stayed at Pats Place 9/12-9/20 and we were in heaven! The home is clean, spacious, comfortable, and well-stocked with all the necessities. Amazing views of the waterfall, rainforest, ocean, and mountains! Pat was out of town and spoke with my daughter and she said he was so nice and helpful. Beth, his friend and housekeeper picked us up at the airport and she was so nice and gracious. She carried my luggage down the many steps. By the way, we enjoyed the many steps because it was so beautiful going up and down. We loved them lit up at night. I would recommend this home for a fabulous Juneau vacation. In fact, my sister and her family are going to stay in Pat\'s home next year. My husband couldn\'t make the trip and he was very jealous :-) and we are going to go back so he can kayak, fish, hike, use the fire pit, and hike to the Ice Caves. We were so grateful to use Pat\'s SUV and we explored Juneau and did many activities and tours. We did the helicopter tour and landed on the icefield on Herbert glacier. We walked on the icefield and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We went to St. Theresa\'s Shrine and it was peaceful and beautiful. We walked around downtown and did the Tramway and hiked up at the top. It was breathtaking! We went to the State Museum and that was wonderful. We toured the salmon hatchery and loved it. We went to the Mendenhall Glacier and walked to nugget Falls and it was a powerful experience. We went on the Whale Watch Tour and it was so nice just to go out in the boat and see the scenery. We passed Admiralty Island where a lot of bears live and had 2 Humpback whales play around the boat and one jumped out of the water and another surfaced right next to the boat. It was amazing! We drove the 48 mile Glacier Highway North and South and there are wonderful hiking trails that we tried out. We carried bear spray just in case we ran into a brown bear Yikes but thankfully we did not :-) There is a beautiful State Park north of Pat\"s home where you can see Glacier Bay National Park in the distance and the Lynn Canal runs through the park and it was incredible. There was a black bear with her cub that went down to the canal and we were so amazed! We joked that we were in a National Geographic documentary. We did the rainforest tour which was fabulous and ate at the Salmon bake which was really neat. We didn\'t cook and ate at fabulous restaurants. Thank you Pat! We had a memorable and extraordinary vacation!
Our family stayed at Pat\'s for a week in August. The house is wonderful with a picturesque view. We fished, kayaked, hiked and relaxed. My family said this was the best trip of their lives. Pat is wonderful and the house is unbelievable. We saw whales and dolphins and had our own resident eagle. We caught rock fish, cod, salmon, snapper and halibut. My niece caught an 80 pound halibut. Thank you Pat.
This house was very comfortable for the 5 of us and the views were amazing! You must be prepared for the many, many steps going down to the house as the car only goes part way down the steep hill. We were able to borrow the car which was extremely nice but the car is a little rough. There is no Internet, which we missed but the cell service was quite good. Everything in the house is provided, paper products, full kitchen, laundry facility, sheets, towels, etc, but pots and pans had no lids and some were warped with the Tephlon scratched off. The boat was not usable but the kayak was fun for the guys. The fishing poles were not in the best of shape but you can fish right from the back yard. It was a very quiet place and about a 25 minute drive into town. The Safeway grocery store was only about 12 minutes away. A few things were in need of repair but on the whole it was very enjoyable.
I rarely take time to write reviews, however, our trip to Juneau in June was just too amazing to not share our thoughts. First, Juneau is a piece of heaven. Our entire family fell in love with that beautiful place. Second, Pat\'s home helped to make our trip so amazing. We rent VRBO houses all the time and this was the first time we were incredibly sad to leave a home and location. The location is incredible. The view was impressive both day and night. We saw seals up close and personal when we used the kayak that is provided and when we ventured around the bend, out in the channel, we saw several whales jumping in the distance. We even had a fairly close encounter with a sea lion. That was a little intimidating, but all of it was amazing. Third, the home is very charming and well designed. We felt cozy, yet had adequate space for 6 adults. The kitchen has pots, pans, mixing bowls and plenty of plates and utensils. Towels and wash clothes are in abundance. The bottom line is, the home had everything we needed and then some. The landscaping surrounding the home is beautiful, especially the waterfall. The decks are beautiful and have plenty of chairs to enjoy the views. Pat was very nice and accommodating and did all he could to make things convenient. We are planning our next visit as soon as possible! One final tidbit...About four miles up the road is St.Teresa\'s shrine. It is an incredibly beautiful and peaceful place. I wish we would have found it sooner, as I would have gone there every day just to enjoy the beauty and peace it offered. The night before we left, we went there at early sunset and had a whale gracefully made his presence known right in front us. It was an experience we will never forget.
Thank you Pat for sharing your home. The house is very comfortable, the views are amazing, and your hospitality was very much appreciated. And having the use of your suv was so helpful with our large group. Thanks again for everything. Aloha. Bill and Gail
