Our condo, located on the beautiful unspoiled north shore, is just 15 minutes from the airport, although it seems much further, is by no means your typical Caribbean beach front condo. First of all you are 50 feet from the surf! The sound is incredible, especially while lying in bed. This is by far the best unit in the complex because of the location, view, size, and it was just fully remodeled and furnished.
Next, all but two of the 32 units there are lived in year round by it's inhabitants. All the neighbors know each other and are very friendly. Most will realize you are staying in our place, so don’t be shy asking for directions or a beer. This is not a resort, but absolutely feels like a sanctuary or retreat. There are wild chickens and roosters, as well as the occasional iguana running around. Don’t worry they all get along fine with each other and with the horses on the edge of the property. Well kept but not manicured, nothing feels forced. This is island living. It’s all natural.
The beach, 50 feet from our living room, is usually deserted, as everyone living there in Dorothea is at work. If there happens to be a horse on the beach or in the water don’t worry, sometimes they break out to go for a swim! If you want to hike to another beautiful quiet, deserted beach where there are no buildings or anything but white sand, you can hike to Neltjeberg (pr. nelteeberg). It’s a little less than a half a mile walk on a spectacular forest trail that includes an ocean cliff section directly adjacent to the property. It’s a local’s favorite, deserted most weekdays. If you want something more traditional, world famous Megan’s Bay is only two bays over, about a 7 minute drive from Dorothea. There are 53 other public beaches. Typical this is not.
It’s a small island so everything is close, including the ferries to St John, Tortolla, Virgin Gorda and many others. Day trips are easy and inexpensive. We provide beach towels and coolers for your use.
Owning this exact condo was Dori’s dream before ever meeting me in Connecticut, so after we got together I bought it for us. I now understand why it was her dream and I think you will too.
One more thing, if Violeta, a little orange cat comes by for breakfast, there is food in the refrigerator for her, and please keep the foot bath water fresh because she will drink out of it when you are not looking!

If you want off the beaten path, this is for you. As stated most of the people here are full time residents and they are the friendliest we have ever met, helpful, outgoing, and social, they will treat you like family in a heartbeat. Only one caveat, driving here is nerve racking and dangerous, at least for us old folks.
Condo was spacious, clean and really nice. Perfect spot for a relaxing week in St. Thomas. Owner could not have been more helpful and thoughtful. We had a couple obstacles of our own making and Jeff went out of his way to help solve them. We felt like we were staying in an old friend\'s place rather than a rental. The location was perfect, right on the water on a secluded bay with hardly anyone around except the really friendly and welcoming condo residents. We will be back!
We had a wonderful time at Dorethea and St Thomas. Dorethea was the best of both worlds for us. We could easily get to wonderful beaches, play golf or island hop or just stay at the condo with a beach out the back door or hike a short trail to awesome sea cliff views. This property was very clean and the owner was very helpful. I would recommend it to everyone.
The views were breathtaking. Jeff the owner was absolutely wonderful to deal with. The beds were comfortable sheets were clean. Plenty of towels. Debbie, the caretaker was very polite and friendly. In fact all the neighbors that we met or came across where also very friendly and helpful. We were pleasantly awoken Every Morning by the sound of roosters. After rain in the evenings we did have to listen to chirping sounds that we were thinking may have been frogs or possibly Birds. The chirping sound after a rain in the evening may have been the worst part of the condo. We did plenty of snorkeling and swimming on the beach and found much Wildlife to be viewed in and out of the water. Overall we give them 4 out of 5 stars. We would house giving it four and a half stars but it wasn\'t an option. I would recommend this rental unit to friends and family and would stay there again if I found ourselves on st. Thomas again. have given it for and a half stars but it wasn\'t an option. I would recommend this rental unit to friends and family and would stay there again if I found our souls on Saint Thomas again. In order to have received 5 stars the air conditioners in the bedrooms would have needed to have been able to perform at a little bit better level.
The booking process was easy and Jeff was quick to reply to any email. I usually got a response within the half hour. As stated in a previous review the condos are lived in by locals. Everyone was very nice and approachable. There are a lot of animals running around including chickens, dogs and cats. The beach is rocky but you are able to swim. We often sat on the porch overlooking the beach and read. There was a constant breeze during the day. The accommodations were comfortable and it was nice to rent a place and not have to supply the everyday products i.e. trash bags, paper towels, dish soap etc. Arriving for the first time in St. Thomas I was a little intimidated by the roads and driving on the left side. It seemed to me that a Jeep was the right choice for our vacation based steep roads. In addition, we did some four wheeling to Neltjeberg Beach. You get used to the roads after a few days and driving around the island becomes easier. Overall, I would certainly recommend staying at this property.
