Just got back from Trinidad, and again i stayed at Sadila house on water pipe road Arouca , got my favorite room no.3. this place is very clean , the bedroom is large with large bathroom..this guesthouse is close to public transport. Port of Spain is about 15 minutes away. transfers to and from the airport can be arranged with the owner, he is more than willing to pick you and take you back .i consider Sadila house my home away home , i always feel safe and secure there.i highly recommend this Guesthouse, if you are looking for a place to stay thats not too far from the airport.Sadlia house is where i will always stay when i visit Trinidad.
this b&b was really great the owners do not get involved in your personal business, the room was very clean the bed comfortable, the cable channels were great but most importantly you can have breakfast when you like .unlike other places that have time limits to eat ...this was great since we often slept late everyday....
This was perfect for us. We needed a place to overnight in Trinidad on our way back home from St. Vincent. We had just spent 9 nights on a sail boat and aren\'t the Ritz Carlton type. We just wanted something clean, safe, and close. Sadila House is about 10 minutes from the airport. It is operated by Chaitram Bhola. Chaitram met us when we arrived. We were getting fairly late (8) and wanted to eat. Chaitram walked us to a nearby restaurant (Chinese); we got take-out and went back to Sadila House and ate in the common dining area. Sadila House is a guest house. It is 2 stories and each floor has 3 rooms opening to a common living/dining/kitchen area. It was clean and functional and Chaitram was very personable. He personally awoke all of us (we had 3 rooms) at 5:15 AM to catch our 8AM flight.
WOW! the Sadila House went way beyond any B&B, hotel, even mom couldn\'t top this one! The owner waited hours at the airport for our late plane, luggage that took forever to come down the turn stile, then through an hour customs line. Mr. Bhola waited until 1:30/2:00 am in the morning for us. At about 9:00 am the next morning he cooked us breakfast and ran us back to the airport for our flight to Tobago. He is Awesome! The room has a great A/C, comfortable bed, T.V., private bathroom, and all of it is very clean. On our way back from Tobago he picked us up and dropped us off again. Thank you. I highly recommend the Sadila House.
II had the opportunity to overnight in Triinidad, and based on the reviews at TripAdvisor, I selected Sadila House. Trinidad was my last island on a 16 island two week non-stop island hopping trip. When I arrived at POS, I had visted Barbados, St. Lucia, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Marie-Galante, Montserrat, Antigua, St. Maarten, St. Martin, Anguilla, Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Kitts, Tortola, BVI, St. Thomas, USVI, and St. Vincent, before moving on to Guyana, South America. Just like clockwork, owner Chaitram Bohla was at POS to pick me up. He patiently waited while I pulled a large number of Trinidad & Tobago (TT) dollars from an ATM. He asked my indulgence as he wanted to run an errand. I welcomed the opportunity as he drove a good ten miles away and gave me a great opportunity to see a three lane freeway in Trindad (I live in the Los Angeles metro and was not prepared for a three lane road in the Caribbean) and a large area of Trinidad that I had not expected to see, for no additional charge! We had a great deal of conversation about Trinidad and its background and population. We talked about a lot of stuff while we drove and I learned more from that conversation than I did on any previous island tour with a paid taxi driver. Candidly, even though I drove in a top-down convertible through the devastated area of South Los Angeles after the Rodney King riots while National Guard troops still patrolled the streets , I was not quite prepared for the bars on windows of the restaurants, stores and homes of the Arouca neighborhood. However, I took a walk around the ‘hood and no one even took notice of me. I had dinner in a Chinese restaurant down the street. Asked for chopsticks and learned, politely, that in Trinidad, Chinese food did not come with chopsticks, just knives and forks. Excellent food. I shopped at a neighborhood store for toiletries with ease. I was taken aback, slightly, as I went to a drug store and discovered that everything was behind bars. I passed my credit card through and the purchased item was passed out. I had a flashback to the mid-90s when I was in Panama City, Panama, and walked into a bank to use an ATM and found three guards, in three facing corners, holding sawed off shotguns, all pointing at the front door and me and my wife. Not at all the same experience in Trinidad. My transaction was completed quickly and very politely. As I walked back to Sadila House, I noticed again that no one paid any attention to me. On my return to the Sadila House, I discovered that the family next door was hosting a Hindu prayer session, complete with Sitar and vocals. I spent the next two hours listening to the calming music before falling soundly asleep. I arose at 5 a.m. the following morning and walked all around the neighborhood to discover family members getting children ready for school and adults getting off to work. If carpooling has a Patron Saint, he (or she) resides and commutes in Trinidad. I saw less than two out of 10 vehicles with less than four passengers! Breakfast was the standard eggs and bacon, orange juice and toast to which I was accumstomed. Mr. Bhola set me up for a tour for that day with a local driver who took me up to the top of Trinidad and its mountains with beautiful ocean views before returning to POS for my flight out to Georgetown, Guyana. I noticed before I wrote my review that a guest who subsequent to my visit had stayed at the Sadila House as a “romantic getway” and wrote about a negative experience. Sadila House is not a romantic getaway. It is a clean, pleasant place to stay while in the area! It can also serve as an interesting cultural experience for those with an open mind and a sense of adventure and interest in learning. I had a very pleasant time with Mr. and Mrs. Bhola. I learned a lot about Trinidad and its culture from them. I While I learned a lot about cultural experiences in Trinidad, I learned even more on my next stop, Geogetown, Guyana!
