Coconut Grove was the most tranquil and peaceful vacation! The individual houses gave privacy and had more space than we could need. We stayed in the second largest beach house and utilized the kitchen that came with everything we needed!! The secluded beach gave an amazing view and was so beautiful, I loved how close we were to the beach! Richard and Diane were also amazing hosts! They offered great places for us to visit and restaurants to eat at that gave us a local feel for the area instead of tourist places! They even came around and invited us on their outing to the market. Could not have asked for better hosts or location!! We are definitely coming back!!
This is not a \'resort\' and that\'s why we liked it. We had the added plus of being the only guests there during off season. Some traffic noise, but worth it for the proximity to the beach. Cabins are small but sufficient, front deck has comfortable seating. We enjoyed walking on the beach, often times we had the beach to ourselves as this is away from Dominical, less than 5 minute drive. Owners weren\'t there when we stayed but we were well looked after by Ian.
Richard and Diane are wonderful hosts. This place is so friendly, and has everything you need. Self catering cottages/cabins with air conditioning. 5 minutes walk to a beautiful, quiet beach and a pool on the property. The cabins are not luxurious, yet have everything you need, including a porch, and are very reasonably priced. The owners\' rescue dogs are very friendly, and the iguanas are everywhere.
We had a great time at Coconut Grove. This is not a \"resort\" and we were not looking for one. Richard and Diane are excellent hosts. They give you great local tips and information, but do not intrude when you just want to relax and be alone. We stayed over Christmas and were invited to their Christmas gathering. Lots of expats and some guests included. They told us about the local canopy zip lines, and the \"excitement level\" of each. They had a reflexologist and a massage therapist come to the site and both were EXCELLENT. Richard told me which fishing guide to use and we had a great day fishing. They told us which restaurants were good. Best of all they recommended a band, The G String Cowboys, playing at Roca Verde, that was INCREDIBLE (bought their album). Pricing very reasonable. We will go back. Thank you Richard and Dianne for your on target advice!
We loved our 10 days at Coconut Grove. We stayed in the house closest to the beach and we appreciated every bit of it, from the spaciousness (there were 5 of us), to the well stocked kitchen, to the comfortable and lovely patio, to the friendly dogs, beautiful birds and iguanas on the grounds. The kids had a great time in the pool and hanging in the hammocks. Diane and Richard were great hosts and we felt like we were friends by the end of our stay. They recommended tasty restaurants and different kinds of beaches as well as the waterfall horseback riding trip, which was our favorite trip in Costa Rica. The beach in front is pretty with huge rocks to climb on when the tide is out. We walked up and down the beach a lot and enjoyed finding shells and watching the hermit crabs. Our favorite beaches to play in the water was the one a minute down the road (near Roco Verde) and we also loved being near the whales tail in Uvita.
