Description

Welcome to Dolce Vita, our private, two home vacation rental in charming and quaint Bucerias, Mexico.  Dolce Vita and its superb location on a cobblestone street, a half block from the beach, is just superb and our guests will think so as well!.

Overview
Dolce Vita is located on Calle Lazaro Cardenas, a half block from the sandy beach and the Bay of Banderas in the “Golden Zone” of Bucerias. Dolce Vita is made up of two homes, one with two bedrooms (Dolce Vita II- occupancy of four) and the casita, with one bedroom (Dolce Vita I- occupancy of two). The casita is located across the pool from the casa. Guests can rent either home separately, or they can be rented together renting both is a perfect arrangement for a family group or three couples. The entire area is enclosed by a stone wall for security and privacy.

Wonderful Street
Calle Lazaro Cardenas is a Mexican cobblestone street and our homes are situated on this street in what many say is the best area of Bucerias. Guests have repeatedly said that Dolce Vita is in a superb location. We are surrounded by a huge variety of restaurants, shops, and art galleries. Guests can take a short walk down the street and over the “Kissing Bridge” to Bucerias Centro, with its traditional Mexican square, lovely church, shops, a local street market and dozens of restaurants of all types. Bucerias has retained the flavor of old Mexico and is a very authentic beach town.

Beach
Our homes are located a half block from the white sandy beach, just a short three minute walk. Gather up the provided beach chairs and cooler and walk on down to see the clean and clear ocean and the seven mile long beach. The beach, especially near us, is usually only cotted with people so you can enjoy a calm and relatively quiet beach experience. Many times you can spot whales and dolphins from the beach and there are always pelicans as well as local fisherman out in their boats.

Transportation
Many ask if a car is a necessity while staying at Dolce Vita. While occasionally nice to have, we do not feel that it is necessary to rent a car. We do have off-street parking for one car if you decide to rent one, and there is also street parking in front. Grocery Stores on foot you can reach a mini-super (Mary Paz) just two minutes away where you can buy just about everything you might need. In addition, there are fruit and veggie shops in Bucerias as well as fish and meat markets. Delicious bakeries abound. All of these places are accessible by foot and are fun to go to for food and goodies. For larger shopping needs, it is easy to take the local bus to Mega Supermarket, a large grocery store just five minutes away on the bus. It is easy and entertaining to ride the Mexican buses, and it is a close walk to the bus stop from Dolce Vita to get on a bus which will take you to points north and south, of course including Puerto Vallarta.

Two Bedroom House
Dolce Vita II is our two bedroom, two and a half bath home with a thatched roof top palapa. Our homes have a Mexican flair and were designed by a well-known Mexican architect. There is lovely varnished, dark wood trim throughout both homes. We, as owners, have collected and display artwork from several local artisans. In Dolce Vita II, there is a large mural painted on the wall by Daniel, a beach artist from Puerto Vallarta. Many of our guests, after staying in our homes, say that our online photos do not do our homes justice!

Dolce Vita II’s first floor has a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar. Bottled water is provided in the kitchen as well as on the second floor bedroom level. The large kitchen window overlooks the street, where you can watch local vendors daily selling their goods-watermelon, strawberries, pastries. If you are lucky you might become part of a local holiday celebration and a Mexican parade that goes by right out front.

In addition to the kitchen on the first floor, there is a dining area seating four and a living room area with comfortable seating and flat screen TV with local cable and a small DVD collection. Both the dining and living areas open up through French doors directly onto the pool patio area. A convenient half bath completes the first floor. two robust ceiling fans keep the entire first floor cool.

Going upstairs in Dolce Vita II, using the lovely, handcrafted railing, you find two bedrooms on the second floor. The master bedroom with a queen bed and large closet, has an ensuite Mexican tiled bathroom. There are unique wall “sculptures” built into the interior and exterior walls of the property. The master bedroom wall features one of these, a large conch shell. Screened French doors lead outside to a large covered porch with a view and sounds of the ocean. A “coffee corner” on the porch is the perfect spot for your morning coffee and cinnamon roll (go to the restaurant Sweet Things for their awesome pastries!) .

Dolce Vita II’s second bedroom, also with a large closet and queen bed, also opens up onto the covered porch through screened French doors. This bedroom features a starfish sculpture on the wall. Each bedroom has beautiful locally made onyx bedside table lamps. The second bedroom has a full, Mexican tiled bathroom right outside the bedroom door.

Roof Top Palapa
To get to the third floor roof-top palapa, you ascend the stairs under a beautifully bricked cupola with hanging stars that can be illuminated at night. The full roof-top deck has nearly a 360 degree view of Banderas Bay, the town, and the neighboring Sierra Madre Mountains. On the palapa, there is a thatch roofed dining area for four people complete with a refrigerator and grill, as well as a sunbathing area on the other side. The stars are beautiful from the rooftop at night.

One Bedroom House
Across the pool is Dolce Vita I, the casita, which is perfect for two people. It is one story and handicapped accessible. It features a full kitchen and dining area with ocean views. The bedroom has a large closet and a queen bed. Both the living room area (with cable TV and DVD player) and the bedroom open up through screened French doors directly onto the pool patio. In addition to the seating areas around the pool, the casita has a separate palapa deck behind the house with ocean views and sounds of the surf.

Pool
The two homes share a crystal clear, cobalt blue tiled pool with pool lights for evening swims. The pool area is surrounded by lush, green plants creating a tropical feel. There are recliners around the pool for relaxation, as well as umbrella tables and chairs for outside dining. Enjoy a meal of fresh veggies and locally caught fish barbequed on the Weber grill.

Summer
Consider coming to Bucerias and staying in our homes during the summer months of May through October. Then the place is slow. The restaurants and shops are less crowded and the beaches are empty. It is also a lot less expensive –money goes further! Enjoy a Mexican summer vacation!

Wonderful Mexican Caretaker
We consider ourselves very lucky to have a wonderful Mexican man, Jorge, as our property caretaker. He will personally greet you, and he will help you settle in. He can guide you in your restaurant selection and give you tour suggestions, or help you find medical care in the unfortunate case you need it. He can arrange for transportation or even find a chef to come to Dolce Vita and cook up a feast for you. He is easily and readily available as he lives and works right next door.

Welcome To Dolce Vita
Come and stay with us at Dolce Vita and enjoy the ambiance of Bucerias, with its cobblestone streets and sandy beach, delicious food, friendly folks, gorgeous flowers and marvelous culture. You will be glad to be here!.

This a great property! Unlike most things in Mexico everything worked the property is well appointed. The location is 5 star you walk out of your gate and the only decision you need to make is do we go right or left today.Susana the housekeeper is simply amazing... And Jorge the property manager was more then helpful. We would certainly return to Casa Dolce!!

Dolce Vita 2 - Terrific!!

We stayed a month at the Dolce Vita II and it was great - it surpassed our expectations. The home was kept spotlessly clean by Suzi the housekeeper and the grounds very well maintained. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need. The home is nicely furnished and kept in great working order. The accessories throughout the home shows the love the owners have of the home. The roof top patio provides a very private area when you want it. Previous reviews have mentioned the music from the restaurant next door and it really isn\'t a big issue at present. They have live music 2 times a week and it finishes by 11 pm. During holiday times it is different. The restaurant isn\'t busy so I\'d be surprised if it doesn\'t close in the near future. The owner is an old grumpy guy who doesn\'t care what other people think.

Terrific Location in Bucerias

Directly on Calle Lazaro Cardenas - EZ (1 block) walk to Sea, with restaurants scattered all around in immediate vicinity - Italian with wonderful Music nitely just next door - which we enjoyed tremendously from our little courtyard with communal pool (wonderfully designed, maintained, & refreshing), some serving up Mexican specialties (Luna Luna being our favorite for that), & finally, a fantastic BYOB French Bistro just a block 1/2 away opposite the mini super mart where we\'d buy the makings for quesadillas, licuados/smoothies, & margaritas We also bought fresh Snapper & Camarones across the Carretera up the hill from Roberto\'s Mariscos. Cabs are located on the corner of our block, & busses to anywhere, including Guadalajara, can be caught on the Carretera. The Casita (we were in the 1 BR) was VERY spacious, with a terrace out back between us & the bay, from which we enjoyed our desayunos, some suppers, & YES, spotted dolphins too. We had no need for TV, or music (since that was provided via next door), but the casita is equipped with that and good WIFI connection too. Thanks, Dency, for having us as guests, & a special shout out too to the wonderful neighbors from Manitoba with whom we shared the property during our 1 week stay: Bob & Sharon, Grant & Val! As repeat visitors, they served as great guides, & the kinds of neighbors one would wish for back home :)

Returned to Dolce Vita

Had another wonderful stay at Dolce Vita. We were fortunate enough to have both the Casita and the house to accommodate our family members and friends that joined us on different dates. What a beautiful community to visit. Lots of things to do and lots of wonderful food to cook. Also, lots of great restaurants. As this was our second time here it was great that lots of people recognized us and with a longer stay we felt very much a part of Bucerias. The music at the bar beside the house was much quieter this time. They are now having a solo guitar player play great dinner music softly and I\'m sure the speakers have been re-directed so as not to be sending all the sound to the house. Again, we enjoyed the music every evening that we were home except for one when some local musicians wandered through the restaurant, but then you get them everywhere in Mexico! The manager was very accommodating and as usual the houses are kept very clean. All our needs and more were met. We will return!

Been there twice going back a third.

I have to agree with the previous comments. Make the Casas Dolce Vita your gateway to Bucerias. The pool is kept sparkling. The landscaping neatly groomed and housekeeping by Esmeralda is immaculate. You will never have to worry about your personal property. Laying by the pool during the day and reading a book is totally relaxing. The sound of the surf breaking and singing of the birds tells you, you have arrived in paradise. In the morning go for a walk and explore the street vendors just south of the town center. This is the time to take look what everyone has to offer. Many vendors have the same items and prices can vary. Take notes, who has what for how much. Most the vendors shut down around 4 PM. If it has been a slow day, prices later in the afternoon will drop for a quick sale. Are you around the Town Center during lunch - food vendors offer a great assortment. My favorite is usually parked on the east side of the square and offers fresh tacos. BBQ Marlin or prawns (camerons) are incredible for just $15 pesos each. In the afternoon - get the BBQ going. Talk with your neighbor. Share the BBQ and merge your meals. This is a wonderful way to make new friends. After sunset make sure you have bug spray to apply to exposed skin. In fact it is not a bad idea to spray before going on walks. Just another warning about bugs - inside or out - if you spill something, clean it up now. Don\'t leave it for the maid. Tiny sugar ants are everywhere. They send out scouts and if they find just one crumb, an army will return. Geckos also appear just about anywhere. If you find one inside, don\'t hurt it. They are the best defense against other undesirable critters. For the local night life check out the newly remodeled Shamrock Irish Pub with your hosts Sharon and Jesse, or for great dancing La Pachanga or the Drunkin Duck with Courtney behind or on top of the bar. For the sports enthusiast check out Yo Yo Mo\'s across the street.

Great Stay!

We recently stayed at the one bedroom casita. It was a wonderful stay. The pictures really don\'t do it justice! The casita is very clean, well maintained, and very comfortable. The owners were very helpful and answered all our questions and concerns. The property caretaker lives nearby and is a great resource. We would recommend staying here, and hope to stay here with other members of our family in the future. The location is very central, with a super mini for groceries around the corner, numerous restaurants steps away, and the beach is approximately 1/2 block away. Bucerias town center is a 5 minute walk away.
