This is our second time to Dominical and it was just as beautiful and amazing experience as our first time 2 years ago. Dalip and Cindy\'s home is lovely! I could not WAIT to get up each morning for coffee on the upstairs balcony and listen to the rainforest awaken. The pool was of course a favorite for the kids (and me!!). The kitchen is well stocked with anything you would need for cooking your meals and I looked forward to opening it all up each morning!! We mostly ate breakfast and lunch at the house and dinner out. The locals are very kind and Dalip is generous with his information on locations for groceries, restaurants and adventures! Edwin is just about the sweetest man, and although he speaks little English, he\'s quite capable of communication! I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had with our kids, both location wise and the lovely home. Truly paradise... We will be back!
Wow what an absolutely beautiful place this was... We come down every year in Febuary and I sure hope we can book Dalip\'s home every time! So much space both indoors and outdoors! Even seemed to be an extra room which was the office but had a bed in it too! Outdoor kitchen was fantastic and we had family style dinners nearly every night! Got to watch the para glyders (I think that is what they are called) float by the coastline and catch waves of hot air and rise above the cliffs nearly every day. Iguana\'s would hang out on the sun deck with us daily. On the last day we a group of 4 toucans right next to the pool! Also Edwin the property manager was so nice and friendly. Our car broke down the 3rd day and we didn\'t know what to do. Called Edwin and he was there within 20 minutes trying to fix it with us. When we all realized we were not mechanics he called his personal mechanic who made the trip up the steep rode and fixed our car right in the driveway for a very decent rate! Cant wait to come back!!! Thank you for opening up your beautiful home for us :)
My wife and I stayed Feb 3rd to Feb 9th 2017 at the Rainforest Preserve, there is not much more that I can say that other travellers haven\'t said already. A true slice of paradise, you are right in the jungle. Over looking the rainforest canopy. No bugs a fantastic view from the house and the pool. You do need a four wheel drive but a small SUV did just fine, the road was not that bad but we had almost no rain. The house was clean and had all the stuff you would need for cooking, just remember when you get groceries to get some cooking oil or butter. Edwin and his son Andres where great, a few times we came home from our travels to find a freshly picked pineapple or a couple of coconuts ready to drink. Tones of wildlife and the stars at night were great! Edwin and Andres also took us for a little hike through the rainforest preserve on one of it\'s many trails. Dominical is a great little bohemian surfer town that was very welcoming with a bunch of great little restaurants and a great beach with great waves for swimming or surfing. I would move there in a heart beat if I could afford to.
We had an amazing time at the house. We are a young couple travelling with our 2 kids together with grand-pa and grand-ma. Everybody had there own space and privacy. Even if I try to find a negative point about this place I couldn\'t find one! The kitchen and the outdoor dinning area, the pool, the huge shower, the amazing view, the wild life bustling around all day, the spacious rooms, Edwin the lovely care taker... Everything was simply fantastic. There is so much to see and to do in Dominical aria. I usually never travel to the same place twice cause their is so much to see in this world, but I have to admit, the 6 of us want to return to rainforest reserve. Thanks to you Dalip, for charing your piece of paradise with us. Emilie and the happy family
We had an amazing stay in the Rainforest Preserve. Located in the jungle the house is beautiful and very well maintained. We were a family of ten (including 4 kids) and the house was perfect. We enjoyed a few hikes around the house and the caretaker family was really welcoming. If we ever go back to Costa Rica, we will definitly come back to this house :) A 4 wheel drive is mandatory to access the house.
We spent a wonderful month in the Rainforest Preserve Lodge in Dominical with our young family and we loved it! It\'s really well situated between Dominical and Dominicalito, but is set deep enough into the jungle and up the hill to feel isolated and deep in nature. The drive up the hill is a little intimidating the first time, but soon becomes fun and the views down to the ocean are amazing. Definitely rent a 4x4. The pool hanging out over the jungle is a highlight - our 6 year-old daughter spent most of her time in and around the pool. We saw plenty of nature from the balcony (capuchins, toucans, butterflies, coatis, vultures etc) and there was a large iguana who came to sunbathe by the pool most days. We didn\'t see any howlers, but would definitely hear them in the evenings and mornings. The views across the jungle and down to the ocean are really stunning, and the sounds of the jungle (day and night) are quite something! The house is great with a range of sleeping options and decently stocked kitchen(s). It\'s definitely designed for outdoor living, which is great, but doesn\'t have so many options for lounging inside after dark if you want to escape the bugs. The wi-fi was workable, but didn\'t have a massive range (mainly worked on the up-stairs level), but you\'re probably not visiting Dominical for the internet ;-) Edwin (the care-taker) was really helpful and took us on a nature hike to the nearby waterfall, pointing out all sorts of flora and fauna along the way. His wife also provided fast and cheap laundry services.
Our family absolutely loved the Rainforest Preserve house in Dominical! There were seven of us and we had plenty of room and more for all of us. We especially loved the outdoor kitchen, outdoor shower, and the pool. We discovered the sunset platform the last night we were there and wished we had found it earlier. The sights, sounds, and activities were amazing. I could have stayed another week. Everything was clean and if we ever needed anything, it was taken care of right away. Dahlip and Cindy were great about answering any questions and giving us suggestions on what to do. We enjoyed several different beaches, Manuel Antonio park, Osa Zipline, Nayuka Waterfall and a few local \"soda\'s\". I would recommend this to anyone that wants a secluded place, away from the hustle and bustle of resorts. I would stay here again if I could. Thank you for helping us have an amazing week in Dominical.
It may be hard to imagine 11 family members in the same house for 10 days having a wonderful time. Yet the Rain Forest Lodge made that possible. We took advantage of the newly completed tent platform that includes its own private shower and toilet so that each of the four family units had their own sleeping space and privacy. It was absolutely perfect! Each morning we had coffee on the upper deck, watching and listening to the abundance of wildlife while enjoying a spectacular view overlooking the rain forest and the Pacific Ocean. Howler and Capuchin monkeys, toucans, vultures, iguanas and more were present every day. The pool (the best babysitter ever) was wonderful and especially enjoyed by the grandkids! The lodge was great for cooking for a large group with two kitchens, one at ground level and one on the upper level, and a dining area with a large table that seated all of us. The caretaker and his family live 3 minutes away and were extremely helpful in answering questions and maintaining the pool and lodge. When we could tear ourselves away from the lodge and our relaxing mornings, we ventured out to discover fabulous beaches, national parks, a wildlife sanctuary, restaurants, waterfalls, zip lines, a snorkel tour, surfing lessons and more.
We just returned from the trip of a lifetime to Costa Rica and the highpoint was having Rainforest Lodge as our base. Each morning we awoke early to see what wildlife might visit us - we could consistently count on the howler monkeys and toucans. The entertainment provided by marauding capuchin monkeys and Iggy the resident iguana was better than the Dominical nightlife. A hike to and swim at Hummingbird Falls was enchanting. The \"treehouse\" room is the best. Make sure you also check out the sunset platform. Both Manuel Antonio and Marina Ballena Parks were must-sees, as was Hacienda Baru for the zip line tour. The owners leave a great notebook of tips and suggestions. The road to the house is an adventure not for the faint of heart, but the views and experiences make it well worth the trip.
I have been to Costa Rica many times, and I haven\'t found a setting more beautiful than this. Amazingly private with beautiful jungle and ocean views. I could (and did!) sit on the porch watching the birds and monkeys all day. Nature trail to the Rainforest Presreve waterfall is a must. If you are looking for a great beach, try domincal for surfing or dominicalito for swimming. Both are only a 5 minute drive.
