Our family of 6 stayed here for 3 nights as part of my daughter\'s make-a-wish trip. The house had everything we needed and sits in between two separate beaches both an easy walk. The island is beautiful. It is just a short boat ride away from pig beach which was what my daughter wished for. The absolute best thing about the island is Lorraine! She is an amazing person and her cooking can\'t be beat! She made sure that we were well taken care of and made my daughter\'s wish so special.
This cottage has been nicely redone inside and has most everything you need for a weeklong stay. There is a road between the house and the beach, but don\'t let that be a factor, since only about 1 car goes past per hour. The east-side beach and bay are right there and good for hours of relaxing in nice sand and 2-3 foot, crystal clear water, when the tide is in. The west-side beaches and blowhole are super scenic but are strewn with garbage, and the waves were too rough to go in very far while I was there (and I like rough waves). It is a short walk to town and Lorraine\'s cafe (excellent) and Mom\'s bread (do it!). No internet at the house, but we were shocked to discover our T-mobile phones had free coverage there. The cell coverage was not highly reliable, nor was the water pressure. The water quality was surprisingly high, drink as much as you like, no filtering needed. The air conditioners were powerful and kept the house at any temperature you liked. The house had an inflatable kayak, but it was in bad shape, and we were unable to rent a better one, nor a paddleboard. If you are looking for an affordable house and a week of relaxing, this is it!
The natural beauty of this island is almost too much for the eyes to hold. There are so many blues that you lose count. The peaceful pink house on the beach was just perfect for us. We felt like we had the island to ourselves while town was just a short golf cart ride away. Lorraine and Uriah were so helpful and truly kind. They provided transport to/from the airport, helped us order groceries the week in advance and pointed us in the right direction to all that we wanted to do. We hired Uriah and his boat for a day to see the iguanas, swimming pigs, nurse sharks, sting rays, sunken airplane, Staniel Cay, the Grotto and more. It was a great day that we never wanted to end. If you are game for an adventure vacation in a breath-taking part of the world, this is the place for you.
We stayed Lorraine\'s place for 2 nights. The little cottage is really comfortable and so close to the beach. Lorraine and her sons as well as the locals are really friendly and helpful! NOBOBY locks their doors, and eveyone says hello to us. And we had some local food at Lorraine\'s cafe. It tasted good and I LOVE it! We also bought the bread made by Lorraine\'s mom. We rent a boat and one nice local planned a wonderful trip for us for a full day ( from 9am to 2 pm. we got tired, so we went back early). He took us to see the swimming pigs, big lizards and nurse sharks. They are sooooo cute! We even swam with the pigs and sharks! We rent a golf car from Lorraine and drove it around the island. This little island is really quiet and gets wonderful views. There is no wifi in our house , but you can get wifi at Lorraine\'s cafe ( very short walk to the cafe). There are just a few people( maybe 100 or 200) on black point, so you can enjoy and relax yourself. The only thing I regret is that I just stayed there for 2 nights! I really hope I could stay there for more days!!!
Lorraine and her husband are top notch. They were just wonderful. Got us to the units when we landed at the airport in our little airplanes. Beautiful view, short walk to a picture perfect bay for swimming. Units are well appointed and a short walk (or use the golf carts) to town. The people on black point are warm and friendly. Nobody locks doors, everyone waves. It is a very laid back island. Don\'t be in a hurry for anything...take the basics with you so you don\'t feel stuck if your favourite drink or snack cannot be found. Lorraine owns a cute little restaurant on the island and between her place and a couple others, no shortage on meals. Just understand you are a beautiful out island...no starbucks, no 30 min or free type offers. You will enjoy your stay. Charter a boat to some of the nearby attractions near staniel cay and you will love it. We look forward to our return to black point and would love to do business with Lorraine again. Great lady.
