Description
A beautifully restored stone house in the village of Selorio, equipped with the all modern luxuries you want to make your stay special.
A twenty minute walk from the stunning Rodiles Beach and a short stroll to a local bar, a restaurant and a couple of village shops.
Casa Caveda is a traditional Asturian house, built in the first half of the 19th century and has been recently restored by local artisan builders, using the original stone, reclaimed bricks and oak and chestnut wood. With exposed stone walls both inside and out and an impressive oak floor and ceiling, staying here gives you the opportunity to experience a typical Asturian house.
At the same time there are all the modern luxuries to make your holiday very special. A beautiful kitchen with granite work surface and all new appliances, including: dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, induction hob and Smeg fridge. A Nespresso machine for your morning 'cafe con leche'. A walk-in Grohe rainshower. A large king sized bed. Technology has not been forgotten, the house has internet, TV with chromecast, Roberts Internet radio, bluetooth c.d. player and a Dyson hot+cool.
The house is located in the centre of Selorio, a small Asturian village close to the coast. It is 100m off the road to Rodiles, with plenty of places for parking around. Selorio has two village shops and two places to eat, one of which 'El Cruce' is one of the most popular restaurants in the area with some of the best 'pulpo' in Asturias. Passing in front of the house is the walking route PR.AS.231, exploring the estuary 'Ria de Villaviciosa' and the Beach of Rodiles. The wildlife in and around Selorio is amazing, with deer and wild boar frequently seen just outside the village and for people that like birds the ria of Villaviciosa has been declared a 'Zone of Special Protection for Birds.'
Using the car there are many interesting places to explore in Asturias. The monumental city of Oviedo is 35 minutes away by car and the maritime city of Gijon is even nearer, both are well worth visiting. Closer still, you will find some of the pretty Asturias fishing villages, such as Tazones and Lastres, with their famous dinosaur footprints both ideal for a morning vermouth with freshly caught calamari. The stunning scenery is the most impressive thing that Asturias has to offer, 50 minutes drive from the house are the majestic Picos de Europa, offering some truly spectacular hiking and mountaineering. Also well worth a visit and only 20 minutes away is the impressive Sierra de Sueve, great for walking.
