What a find! We fist came to stay at Seashells three years ago with the family and have returned each year just the two of us. My husband says he wont stay anywhere else in Barbados! The villa is beautiful, spacious, spotless, very tastefully decorated and the location is stunning. All the bedrooms have wonderful views of the sea and drawing back the curtains in a morning, lying in bed listening to the sound of the waves crashing onto the beach is just bliss. The outside area is very pretty with lots of comfy settees and tables and chairs. We loved watching the sunset whilst sipping our cocktails! There is a plunge pool and barbecue and having the fish market right next door, we barbequed tuna, sword fish and Mahi Mahi for lunch. It is only a few steps down from the patio to the beach for a stroll to Sandy Lane and a swim in the beautiful warm turquoise sea. The villa is also perfectly situated for some of the islands top restaurants. Daphnes, Scarlet, The Cliff and The Cliff Beach Club are all within walking distance. Tides, Lone Star and Cin Cin are just a short yellow bus ride away. (The yellow bus ride is an experience not to be missed!). We hired a car and visited St, Nicholas Abbey, Bathsheba, George Washingtons House and The Flower Caves. We would just like to say a huge thank you Claire and David for allowing us to share your beautiful home in Barbados. We love it so much we have already booked for next year!
Thank you so much once again David and Claire for allowing us to stay in your beautiful villa. This was our second visit to Sea shells and we had another wonderful time, the villa was perfect and it was so nice to see David and Althea again who looked after us very well. We managed to visit St Nicholas abbey this time which was great day out very interesting definitely worth a visit and we managed to explore more of the island but it was lovely to return back home to the fabulous setting of Sea Shells which we hope to return to very soon.
We have stayed here twice so far and we will certainly stay again. The property is wonderful, the open plan ground floor flows into the outside area and the beach. The bedrooms are wonderful, especially the huge master suite, with wonderful views of the beach and sea. The location is perfect for us, walk to superb top end restaurants and local eating places, the fish market, the local bus to hop into Holetown or Speightstown for other eating delights. Some may find the road off putting, but for us it is a plus. We simply love the place and wouldn\'t consider staying anywhere else on this great island.
Seashells is a lovely villa in a stunning location. Situated on Paynes Bay on a beautiful beach we loved being able to walk right along the beach to Sandy Lane each morning. There is a reef directly in front of the villa so you just need to walk approx 200 m to the right if you want to swim. Two of the island\'s top restaurants - The Cliff and Daphnes are within walking distance. We enjoyed going to Daphnes for happy hour at 5pm for a great rum punch to watch the sun set. Other restaurants we would recommend are Tides, Lone Star and The Fish Pot. Jumas at Speightstown is also worth a visit and they provide complimentary transport The villa is very clean and well appointed. Altea the maid is efficient and David the security guard is very good. The villa is situated on a main road and next to a fish market. There is noise but it did not bother us. There is also a lot of natural noise - the waves crashing against the beach and the local birds. All fabulous!
We stayed at Seashells for a week at the beginning of August. The villa was fantastic, clean, comfortable and well-furnished and came fully equipped with great views. The location is perfect with plenty of restaurants within walking distance and many more only a short bus ride/taxi journey away in Holetown. The villa really is right on the beach with spectacular views, it is close to the road, which can be noisy at times, but that did not bother us. Cocktails on the patio watching the sun go down was always the days most eagerly anticipated activity. There were plenty of activities, all available from our back gate! We water-skied and wake boarded every day with Ron and took advantage of the massages provided by Charlie We went scuba diving with Reefers and Wreckers up in Speightstown, who were also very professional. We had a hire car which was useful for shopping and exploring further afield. We were concerned about going out of season in August but neednt have worried; although we did have some rain, it was always warm and didnt spoil our enjoyment. A week was too short and we are very jealous of Claire and Dave for owning such a wonderful holiday retreat.
This has been our third stay in Seashells, and it looked even more beautiful than the last time - if that is possible. Some lovely decor touches inside and out, Claire and David have such exquisite taste as well as being wonderful people to deal with. It's like our second home away from home. We love the location because it is easy to get to all the places we want to go without much thought. We absolutely love that it is right on the beach and we walk every morning from Payne's Bay as far as Sandy Lane beach when it is possible depending on the tides. The restaurants here in Barbados are world class. To name a few - Tides, The Cliff, Scarlett, Daphne's, The Lone Star, Cin CIn. All fabulous. We went to El Tiempo for the first time for lunch - only authentic Italian food on the Island - it was Pavarotti's favourite place to be when he visited here many years ago. I think I would like to go there at night because I think it would be more romantic at night. The food was excellent. We also went to another new place up in Speightstown to a place called Jumas for breakfast - it was was very homey and breakfast was served on the deck overlooking the beach which was gorgeous of course with the turquoise water glistening alongside the white sandy beach. The food was delicious. I would recommend it - so give it a try. There is also a bakery across the street with delicious coconut turnovers and many different breads and tarts - very reasonably priced. We did a lot of our own cooking at the villa as it is very well equipped with gadgets, dishes small appliances and always something in the cupboard such as condiments - spices - vinegars etc. We usually end up leaving stuff so the next person can avail of it. There is also a lovely barbecue outside - and a plunge pool if you get overheated. The bed is very comfortable with lovely cotton sheets, lots of lovely towels in the bathroom, and beach towels also. The entrance and gardens on the property are beautiful and there are a couple of coconut trees by the beach gate which are a part of our natural Barbados orchestra here (waves crashing, trees rustling and insects singing) so beautiful. Althea is our House Keeper and she is perfect, she comes in the morning - does a very thorough cleaning and always has a smile - what more could you ask for. We feel so lucky to have found such a perfect villa in a heavenly spot called Barbados. Thank you again Claire and David for making our holiday such a great one.
My family and I have hired Seashells two years in a row. This is a fantastic villa with fantastic service. We have taken our grandsons (both under the age of 3) and found everything easy. The plunge pool is great for the children. We are now looking to book for the third year. Thank you all. The White Family x
Having already stayed at Seashells last year - we already knew that it was going to be another perfect holiday. We really enjoyed the views outside and we started to use the master balcony for an even more fabulous view. I took the most beautiful sunsets from there and some wonderful photographs of the night views of the Cliff Restaurant and locals just enjoying the wonderful weather. We explored a little with the restaurants that were not as close like Tapas in Hastings - beautiful views and great inexpensive food. Also Lone Star in the other direction past Holetown - absolutely gorgeous restaurant with again beautiful views. We went to our favourites also the Tides Restaurant in Holetown, Daphne's almost next door and Scarlett across the street - gorgeous decor all red inside with the most deliciously presented food - very creative dishes - the owner is from France - also great cocktails. We also drove up to Mullins beach and Fresh Water Bay - beautiful. This villa has everything you could ever want - always condiments in the cupboards, a bbq outside - and every kitchen convenience - blender, coffee grinder, toaster, coffee maker and a huge selection of dishes and pots and pans. Althea is wonderful - she keeps the villa spotless and goes about her business. We love the stretch of beach that we can walk every morning - always lots to see. We think this is the best beach villa ever - so glad we discovered it. Thank you again for sharing this beautiful villa.
Thank You so much Claire and David for letting stay in your beautiful villa. This was our 1st visit to Barbados and we were delighted with Seashells. Althea was there to greet us with a meal and wine after a long flight and we woke up to the most amazing view. The villa is in a fantastic position you can walk along the beach to daphne's, "great food and happy hour" sandy lane and lots of lovely beach bars. You can catch the yellow bus "great experience" or the blue bus just outside to get around the island. The villa was in very easy reach of all the fabulous restaurants. The Cliff, Daphne's, Tides,Lone star, and many more. It was also fantastic for water sports if you wanted them which was avaliable on the beach outside the villa, but not busy like further down the beach on Paynes bay giving you the best of both worlds. We also felt very safe here with David who was lovely and looked after the villa. The Villa was beautifully kept very spacious and offered everything you could possibly need it really was such a lucky find. If we had to say one minor thing is that the villa is near to the road so there is a bit of road noise but this did not bother us at all and the amazing position and feel of the villa outweighed any bit of road noise. To sum up we have had the most wonderful time at Sea Shells villa, we loved it and we will certainly be returning hopefully very soon. Thank you so much All The Calderhead Family
We were a party of 3 Couples and all had the most perfect Holiday experience at Seashells - We have had several holidays in Barbados and this by far was the best. The location, the tasteful furnishings and the attention to detail by the owners all made for a perfect place to relax and recharge. It would be fair to say the photo`s dont do it justice and i dont think i`ve been in such a well equipped holiday kitchen - it had everything - The house is kept beautifully clean by a lovely lady who comes daily and very secure by two very nice friendly guards who alternate - All the household staff were very helpful and on hand if you needed anything. - We very highly recommend Seashells and cant wait to return again ourselves
We stayed in Seashells for 15 days last June - it was just paradise. From the moment we arrived at Seashells - it was everything we had dreamed about and more. We had lovely Althea great us with a smile and showed us around and told us where everything was. This villa is stunning - everything you need is here. The panoramic views of Payne's Bay and beyond are breathtaking, and at low tide you can walk to Sandy Lane beach. Kitchen was very well equipped and was not with empty cupboards which was lovely. The bedrooms all have a spectacular views and beautiful bathrooms, crisp clean sheets and lovely outdoor furniture. A beautiful garden and seating overlooking the beach. We walked the beach every morning which was like heaven on earth, and took a dip in the beautiful turquoise waters of Payne's Bay. We were within walking distance to Daphne's and Scarlett's Restaurants, and about 3 minutes by car to the world famous Cliff Restaurant, and 5 minutes from Cin Cin Restaurant - all fabulous and a 10 minutes drive to The Tides Restaurant in Holetown. Supermarkets minutes away. Wine can be delivered by Platinum Wines to your door. Paddle boarding in Pebble beach near the Hilton Hotel, and Surfing at Freights Bay taught by the famous Boosy's Surf. Holder's hill has a fabulous farmer's market every weekend so that is a lot of fun and has the best eggs ever - fresh herbs, bread, juices, fresh fruit and vegetables and lovely arts and crafts, this is worth the trip - only minutes away. I found the owner very helpful and accommodating. This is the perfect beach villa. In fact so perfect we have already booked for this year again. Thank you for sharing this beautiful villa.
