Thanks to my sister's wonderful foresight and creativity my husband Bill and I bought the property on the Island in 1999 as our eventual retirement home. I have been a teacher/school librarian and Bill is an international business consultant. We have four grown children and five wonderful grandchildren. We built the guest house in 2000, added the studio garage in 2003 and the main house in 2007. The pool was added in 2010. We hope to have our island home house many family get togethers in the future.
Perfect spot for our two families. We had 6 people in the larger house and 5 in the smaller house. We enjoyed the hot tubs at each house daily. The common pool is heated and very nice. The kitchens had everything we needed for several meal we prepared. There is a large table and counter in the large house where we could all eat together. The grounds are like a park...beautifully maintained. We rode our bikes to Oak Bluff and Edgartown/Chappy . Great location for several beaches. We had a wonderful time.
My family and I have been staying at this home for the last three years. It has truly been a wonderful and serene experience for all of us. Upon arrival you can\'t help but notice how nicely manicured the grounds are kept. At the front entrance you are greeted by the sounds of a wind chime hanging by the window. Beyond that the interior of this house is clean, full of light and it has a spacious open layout. The homeowner is very conscientious providing books, board games, many children\'s videos, and even beach toys. Every year we look forward to our visit to the Vineyard and staying in this lovely home.
Narrow, rutted dirt road leads to a really lovely house set in the country. Beautifully decorated with high ceilings and lots of windows. Two comfortable bedrooms, great for two couples. Very quiet and peaceful. Convenient to bike path. Equidistant to all the towns. A great getaway.
This is our second time in the guest house and we so appreciate the exquisite property. The owners are great, and live there year round. Their love of and attention to the beautiful grounds are evident: it\'s an absolutely lovely site in the middle of wild flowers and trees, and the property and delightful pool (a true refuge during the humid summers) are all beautifully maintained. Peaceful views from every window. We recommend renting the entire \"compound\" for the most privacy, but really it\'s so nicely laid out that everyone has privacy, quiet and their own sense of solitude or community when they want it. It\'s also both totally secluded (it\'s a mile off the main road on a rough dirt road--which only actually enhances the shangri-la like effect when you turn down the drive and see this vision) and yet has very easy access to Edgartown, the airport, all the other townships.
We arrived to a beautiful fresh clean home, that clearly showed the owners attention to details. Being greeted with a bouquet of cornflower blue Hydrangeas and a lovely bottle of wine was such a welcoming gesture and made us look forward to the days ahead. We can\'t express enough how enjoyable our stay was. We experienced all that the island offered, knowing we would return to such a lovely cottage for a star gazing evening. We look forward to returning. We highly recommend this paradise on Martha\'s Vineyard.
